I am a 16 year old sophomore at Liberty High School. I am from a small town in West Virginia. I am a determined girl with big goals that I intend on accomplishing. I am a member of the West Virginia High School Rodeo Association. I compete in 5 events: Barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, team roping, and breakaway. At the 2017 NJHFR in Lebanon, TN I placed 15th in the average in Barrel racing, I was the all around cowgirl at several Multi-state High School rodeos- Battle By the Bay, Mountaineer Stampede, and Field Days of the Past. In 2018 at the NJHFR In Huron, SD I placed 8th in the average in barrels(4th in the 2cnd go which was the fastest time in my performance), and also 19th in the average in Team roping. I also won the all around at the 2018 Shenandoah Shootout. In year end points I was the all around cowgirl for the state of WV. My freshman year, I was not only the Rookie of the Year but also the All Around Cowgirl for the state of WV! At the 2019 NHSFR I ended up placing 28th in the average in pole bending. I love being around horses and the sport of rodeo. I am on the Hamilton County Relay For Life committee which we set up events to raise money for cancer awareness/research. I am the current student Vice President for the Indiana High School Rodeo. Also, I am the Sheridan High school junior class secretary along with being a member of the National Honor Society. I love being in Ag, which means FFA is huge to me where I’m the chapter Vice President. I love helping kids learn the sport of rodeo. I’ve taught kids how to rope, ride, or just being an advocate for the sport. My goals would be to college rodeo and be competitive while doing it. Being in the practice pen is not the only way I practice, lifting weights in the gym, to me, is as serious as being in the practice pen.

Bio:

I am a senior at Imlay City High School. I have been riding horses and competing since I was seven years old. Horses are my passion and I really enjoy training and competing. I have been competing in rodeo for little over three years now. I got a new horse and have been figuring her out on the pattern. Before I started rodeo, I competed in reined cow horse and reining. I still do, on my horse, Th Cougar Hunter. I have won many state titles with him in Michigan foundation quarter horse association and high school rodeo. He doubles as a calf horse for my friend and my breakaway horse. My strength is reined cow horse, but rodeo is becoming much better for me and I am getting more competitive with the girls I compete against. I have always wanted to rodeo in college. It gives me an opportunity to test myself and keep my horse passion alive as I go through everything. I have yet to finish my spring and final season with Michigan high school rodeo, but I feel it will be a good one. My horses are working good and I have been practicing all winter.

I have overcome many obstacles, including a fractured pelvis and a learning disability, focusing on the positives to push through the tough times and come out on the other side a better and stronger person. I share the same small-town values of family and helping those in need of many people in this great place. I am a first-generation rodeo competitor and hope to spread rodeo through future generations. Everyone has to start somewhere, I started to rodeo in eighth-grade qualifying for the 2018 National Junior High School Finals Rodeo hosted in Huron, South Dakota in barrel racing and pole bending. Last year as a freshman I qualified for 2019 National High School Finals Rodeo hosted in Rock Springs, Wyoming, I qualified in reined cow horse. I love to train young horses, watching them grow from a little colt into an amazing athlete amazes me every time. Rodeo has given me life long friends and a second family, I only want to give back to the sport that has given so much to me. I am simply a small-town girl with big dreams that wants a good education with fun and growth along the way.

I was riding horses before I could even walk! I started competing by myself on a horse at age 2. My mom grew up rodeoing and my dad was a state champion wrestler. My dad has tried time and time again to get me to do anything but rodeo, but rodeo is who I am and what I love to do. I have won numerous awards, prizes, etc. I have won 8 all around saddles in the last 3 years along with all around buckles. I have made it back to short go at National Finals (top 20) in one or more events the last 4 years. My main goal is a world title. I ended up tied 4th/5th for a world title last year. I also play volleyball and run track. I am seriously considering not doing other sports this year so I can focus toward my goals I set for myself in rodeo. NLBRA is the only association I compete in now because my brother plays baseball and with his busy schedule, I can hit and miss rodeos but yet still qualify and be sitting pretty good at finals. I plan to do High School Rodeo next year if it works out. I plan to go to college and get what I need to plan for a great career, but I will always have rodeo and my horses in my life! Rodeo is who I am and what I do!

I’m Kaylee Latorre, I currently compete in barrel racing and pole bending. I attend Campbell County High School in Wyoming. Rodeo has put a huge impact on my life! I love getting to travel all over to get to do what I love while also seeing all my friends from all over! I have competed in Little Britches, High School Rodeo, and lots of jackpots and rodeos. However, I tend to like high school rodeo and the jackpots more. This year I decided to focus on my young horse and not do little britches as it takes up a lot of time on the weekends when I would rather be at a jackpot or high school show seasoning my young horse and competing on my more finished horse. Rodeo to me is very important. It’s what I love to do, and I feel that it teaches a lot of responsibility and patience. When I have an off weekend from rodeoing I enjoy watching my siblings play hockey, and baseball, my family is big into sports and it is just fun to watch each other and spend time with family. After this year I plan to further my schooling in business while also college rodeoing!

My name is Sara Lau, and I’m from a tiny town in Iowa called Quimby. Rodeo has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. It was either watching the NFR dreaming of being a barrel racer on the television or going to rodeos to watch my father compete until I was old enough to compete myself. I was also horseback since I was three, so it has always been a lifestyle of mine. I now compete in Breakaway Roping, and Goat Tying at different rodeos, jackpots, and Iowa High School Rodeo Association. I am always practicing hard because there is always going to be room for improvement, and that is part of the reason why I want to rodeo in college, to become even better. Besides rodeo, I participate in many other things such as Competitive Dance, Student Advisory, Jazz Choir, Publications, FFA, Speech, Studio Dance, Spanish Club, Wrestling Cheer, CNA, and having a job. Although I am very busy, I always manage to keep organized, keep up with my school work, practice my events, and this has created me to become very hard working.

I am a junior enrolled online with Western Christian Academy, I chose to online school after my 8th grade year so I could have more time for my horses and practice. Since then, I have won numerous national and world titles in barrels and poles and have been reserve JR and SR girl all around champion at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 NLBRA Finals. I not only barrel race, but I also breakaway and team rope and train and compete on barrel futurity horses. I have been blessed with multiple champions in the barrel pen that have taken me to my third year at the American Semi Finals. 2019-20 was my first year competing in the NHSRA and I was fortunate to make it to nationals in Guthrie, OK in barrel racing where I placed 5th in the 1st round and made it back to short go placing 7th and 13th overall. My goal for this season (2020-2021) is the stay in the top in 3 of my 4 events and make it to nationals once again as well as maintain a 4.0 GPA. My education is very important to me. I come from the Earnhardt family in NASCAR. Competing with “horsepower” is in our blood, but I’ve chosen the REAL horsepower. I started riding at four years old and have competed at various levels of competition. I am proud of my accomplishments, but most importantly thankful for my parents’ support that’s allowed me to pursue the sport of rodeo.
My love for animals, and my mother’s fifteen years experience in veterinarian medicine, is why I have chosen this pathway to my future.
If I’m not rodeoing or playing volleyball for my school, I enjoy being in the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, kayaking or any other outdoor recreational activity, I’m always up for the adventure!
My family is very important to me, and so is helping out when I can at our local food-banks and animal shelters.
I am a passionate and compassionate person that will work hard, both individually in my academics and as a supportive member of a rodeo team.
Thank You for your time and consideration

Bio:

I am a 4th generation ranch kid on both sides of my family. I have grown up riding and training horses and roping plus long work days on the ranch. I am an Honor Roll Student, a 3year National Honor Society member, President of my Senior Class, a four year member of FFA and current local FFA club President, 8 year member of 4H, showing both horses and Beef steers – earning both Grand and Reserve Honors. . I am also a four year Letterman in High School Varsity Basketball and Team Captain. I started rodeo in 5th grade in both Southwest Youth Rodeo Association and the Montana High School Rodeo Association, first in the Jr High Division and then the High School Division. I alao regularly participated in Ranch Rodeos. I have won Overall Championships in Tie Down Roping, Team Roping, Ribbon Roping and Chute Tying in the Souhwest Youth Rodeo Association. I have qualified for Montana State High School Rodeo Finals each year in Junior High and High School. I have already qualified, this fall, for my senior year, for the Montana High School Association State Rodeo Finals rodeo in June. My 8th grade year, I won 3rd at the Montana High School Jr High State Finals Rodeo and qualified for Junior High Nationals. I participated in the Jr High National Finals Rodeo in Lebenon, TN and won 3rd in Tie Down Roping in my 2nd Performance. I have gone into my High School State Rodeo Finals ranked in the top 20 each year. Most recently, I have had horse changes which have effected some of my success. However, my team roping partner and I won the Whitehall High School Team Roping this Fall season (I am currently the Healer) and I placed 3rd in the Tie Down Roping in the Dillon High School Rodeo this fall as well. I feel these successes will continue this upcoming Spring High School Rodeo, now that I have been able to work my young, green horses thru some difficulties. My ability to persevere and work thru difficult situations will help me in rodeo and throughout life. Please consider me for colle rodeo scholarships. I feel that I have a lot of talent and fell I can contribute much to a college rodeo team. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. I am the healer in the video I am sending. I have other vidoes that I can provide.

Kenzie Johnson

kenziejohnson2004@gmail.com

Bio:

I began competing at the age of 3. I have been blessed to find success in many areas of horses such as halter, showmanship, walk trot, western pleasure, trail and horsemanship. I started out in saddle clubs and open shows, moving on to 4-H and then began focusing more on the speed events of barrels and poles. 4 years ago I began competing in rodeo and have truly found my passion. I love the thrill of competing, the family atmosphere, the focus on faith and the encouragement from others and the tough competitors.
As a rodeo competitor, I am proud of the hard work that I put in to be successful. I understand the value of dedication. I am very goal oriented, making time for weekly, monthly, and yearly goal planning with the action plan it will take to help me reach those goals. I have overcome many obstacles, including a fractured pelvis and a learning disability, focusing on the positives to push through the tough times and come out on the other side a better and stronger person. I also understand the responsibility that comes along with my success in the arena. Other competitors and parents alike are watching me both in and out of the arena. It is my goal to be an encourager and positive influence to those around me and to prove what you can accomplish through hard work.
In addition to competing and keeping my competition horses in tip top shape, I also have many responsibilities around our farm, including helping with the feeding and arena maintenance, as well as assisting in lessons and summer camp. I give lessons and ride horses for others to earn money to pay for my horses and entry fees

Bio:

My family and I manage a cow-calf operation along the White River in central South Dakota. I am the oldest of my parents three sons. I help with all the aspects of daily ranch life from calving cows and heifers, haying, fencing, winter feeding, equipment maintenance, branding calves, working calves, and maintenance of the herd. We do everything with the cow herd on horseback and have for generations. I also am the head AI technician for my Grandfather’s ranch. I have helped him the last couple summers breed his cows and heifers. I have also helped a custom breeder breed heifer for ranchers in my local area.

I am also a very active student-athlete at my high school. I am going into my second year as a National Honor Society member. I have been a member of the Chamberlain High School football team for all 4 of my high school years, and a letter winner. I am also a 5-year member of the Chamberlain FFA Chapter. I was the President of the chapter for 2 of my five years. I was also elected to serve as a District FFA Officer. I served as the Sentinel. I also wrestled for 1 year of my high school career but had so stop due to a back injury. I was still able to letter though. I have also been a 4-year member of the Chamberlain Rodeo Club/Team and served as President for 2 of those years. During my junior year, I managed the gymnastics team at my high school. I plan to manage the team again in my senior year, if COVID does not cancel the season.

I am also an active member of the Wanalain 4-H Club. I am a 9-year member of this Club. Through my years in 4-H I have shown beef cattle, goats, and horses. I also competed in 4-H rodeos. Our 4-H club takes part in many community services projects that I participate in. Through my many years in 4-H I have served in many officer positions such as 2 years as President, 1 year as Vice President, 2 years as Treasurer, and 1 year as the Secretary.

I rodeo in the South Dakota High School Rodeo Association, 4-H rodeo, High Plains Youth Rodeo series, and a few other jackpot rodeos. I began rodeoing at around 3 with a “Playdays” rodeo at our local arena. I have been competing every year since and do not plan on stopping any time soon. I hope to be a great addition to your rodeo team.

Bio:

I have been involved with rodeo since I was 8 years old – winning my first national and world championship titles at the 2013 Little Britches Finals. I plan on pursuing a degree in equine reproduction and possibly a certificate in equine dentistry all while hopefully college rodeoing in 3 events. My name is Kelsey Hallin and I am a 19 year old, college sophomore looking to transfer into a rodeo college. I’ve been rodeoing for 7 years going to mostly high school, amateur and open rodeos; however I also enjoy “all around cowgirl challenges” with events like team sorting, trail etc. In high school rodeo I competed in all 7 women’s events and was sitting in the all around cowgirl position coming into state finals until a serious life change prevented me from competing and moving forward to nationals. Aside from strictly rodeo events I also served as the Wisconsin High School Rodeo Queen for two years where I went on to win the written test at the national finals and place 9 my first year and 5 my second year- record breaking success for a Wisconsin queen. I currently compete in mainly IPRA, Big Hat or open rodeos across the Midwest in the barrel racing and breakaway, but also goat tying and pole bending when the venue offers such events. During the week, I work around northern Illinois as a colt starter for 2 main facilities and also train a few breakaway and barrel horses out of my own facility. One of the barns I work for has a veterans program which matches veterans with mustangs to help reintegration the veterans into society and easy mental stress. I volunteer approximately 40-60 hours a month with this program, “Operation Wild Horse” teaching free lessons, fundraising and attending parades or community events. I also serve as their head trainer domesticating, breaking and creating useful mustangs for the program.

My name is Damie Schindehette and I am a 17-year-old senior at Williston Middle High School in Williston, Florida. I am in my fourth year of High School Rodeo, have just been accepted to Montana State University(Equine Science) and very interested in joining a college rodeo team.

Currently I am holding a 3.6 GPA and am dual enrolled for college credit and on track to graduate in the Spring of 2021. I have been in Animal Science class for four years of high school raising (currently taking Animal Science 5 and 6) chapter steers, along with 6 years in 4-H raising and showing rabbits chickens and goats.

I have been a competing member of the Florida High School Rodeo Association (FHSRA) for four years and the National Little Britches Rodeo Association (NLBRA, Florida chapter) for two years competing in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Trail Course. I made the FHSRA State Finals my Junior year (2019-2020) in Pole Bending, and made the NLBRA National Finals in Trail Course and Pole Bending the same season. I have already qualified again in Trail Course for the NLBRA Finals and working on the same for barrels and poles.

My top priority is education and from research, MSU has an excellent Equine Science Program which has piqued my interest. My passion is rodeo and see that the Men’s and Women’s teams are in first place this season. Two very respectable placements considering the high-level talent all over the country

I believe MSU would be a good fit for me due to the fact it has a great Equine Science Program and has a great rodeo history and atmosphere which will allow me the opportunity to reach my highest potential in both arena’s (no pun intended).

I grew up in a small town in southern Wisconsin. My family was not a rodeo family but it had always been a dream of mine, my parents knew I would work my hardest to be the best of the best and jumped right on board with hitting the road to rodeos. Although I got a late start not rodeoing till my 8th grade year I worked hard and competed with the best. During my high school career I spent lots of hours in the practice pens, I tied goats with Sara Burks several times a week and roped with the Ragatz family several nights a week as well. I was surrounded by people that pushed me to be the best and I would like to continue to be pushed to the best of my abilities.

Bio:

I grew up in a rodeo family. My parents rodeoed when I was little and they helped grow my love for the sport. They have made me a very tough competitor as well as made me some pretty spectacular horses to ride. However they only start them and I finish them. I currently ride a consistently 1D/17 second barrel horse, a quick and solid breakaway horse who can do every event, and a young but good head horse who can do every event.
In the past I have competed in many rodeos across Idaho, and done well. In the Idaho High School Rodeo Association, I have been 5th District All Around Cowgirl twice (2020 and 2019), 3x Champion Barrel racer, (‘18, ‘19, ‘20) and I have qualified for state in every event that I complete in. In 2019 I qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo in the team roping as a header. In Junior High I qualified for Nationals in the barrel racing all three years and the pole bending once. I have also been a member of the Intermountian Pro Rodeo Association where I won Rookie Barrel Racer in 2015 and qualified for the finals the next 4 years after. I also won the Novice Breakaway once. I have been a member of the Southern Idaho Barrel Racing Association since 2011 and have won numerous awards and been in their Top 15 many times.
As far as academics go, I attend Gooding High School. I am a member of the National Honor Society and have roughly a 3.95 GPA. I have always been in high level or dual credit classes. Many of my teachers have told me that I have a work ethic that they rarely see in kids my age. I like to have all my work done and in on time and I like for it to be as close to perfect as possible.
