I want to urge everyone to take a moment and evaluate the essential jobs and job workers. What careers are toting this country right now?
When you or your child go to pick out a career path, you need to take a second look. I am telling you now, some careers will ALWAYS ALWAYS be needed!
We make this life about so much “stuff” it is crazy. Stuff to do, stuff to say, stuff on our schedules, stuff to have, stuff in our house, stuff in our bags, stuff in our hands, stuff in our heads, stuff in our hearts where the only thing meant to be there is Jesus.
Why does society seem to gravitate towards career paths that you can’t get anything from but loan debt and a useless piece of paper?? Or, say that if you don’t go be something that makes you live a “keeping up with the Jones’ lifestyle”, then you failed? We have to quit looking down our nose at the careers that keep all of us afloat. Especially now when the world says being a real man is toxic! There are very few men and women who can actually fix home issues, build anything, maintain a motor vehicle, even change their oil, cut firewood, provide food, or lead their family spiritually. Man or woman, it doesn’t matter.
We are so used to just paying people to do things for us. Fix the A/C, fix a tractor, fix a car, fix a plumbing issue, clean up after us, feed us. etc. We don’t shake hands and look people in the eye anymore, we shoot a text or an e-mail.
So to shorten this rant, I ask, when you are picking out a degree. what do you want? Work is something we have to do to survive. We can’t gallivant through life in rainbows and butterflies and expect a socialist government to take care of us. That will ruin this country.
Job security, that’s what you pick! You choose something that come hell or high water is gonna get you money in the bank and peace at night when you lay your head down. So let’s stop looking down our nose at the greasy hands of a mechanic, the wrinkles from the sun and gimp of a rancher, the bleeding hands of a farmer, the blue collars of the small
Engine repairmen, the beef, pork, poultry, and wool man, the cotton man, the oil field man, the row crop man, the fish industry man, the farriers, horse trainers, the black smiths, the RURAL AMERICAN CAREER AND TECHNICAL CAREERS!!!
There are so many degrees, scholarships, and individual career paths that come under the broad spectrum of AGRICULTURE, there is nothing it doesn’t touch. Nothing! Everything we do, everything we touch, everything we use comes back to dirt. It starts and ends in the dirt. Including our stuff and our physical bodies. We can’t take any of this “stuff” with us. We weren’t even made for stuff, we are made to glorify Christ.
And one other thing, when the rest of the world is panicking and hoarding, fearful of tomorrow, these men and women take a brief moment, acknowledge the fear but step up. They pick up and get to work. And they don’t stop. Worrying and crying ain’t gonna change nothing, you got to get to work!
So the next time you hear someone look down on the “just” a farmer, “just” anything of the blue collar American work force, remind them who clothed them, fed them, and got them where they are going.
